ENGIE MultiTech is proud to introduce one of its largest mechanical contracts awarded to date, not to mention its first P3 LEED Gold Certification Project. The new ERMF – East Rail Maintenance Facility (located in Whitby, ON) will serve as a secondary rail maintenance facility to GO Transit’s existing 30-year old Willowbrook Facility to provide operational flexibility and redundancy under emergency situations. At more than 500,000 square feet, the maintenance facility will provide daily maintenance for up to twenty-two 12-car passenger trains. The facility will include 18 storage tracks, progressive stations to train, inspect, repair, maintain fuel, wash and power GO trains, administrative offices, and staff and visitor parking.
ENGIE MultiTech is the prime mechanical contractor for the Bird Design Build/Kiewit Infrastructure DBFM (Design Build Finance Maintain) team. Our scope of work consists of the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the plumbing and drainage, HVAC, underground mechanical building systems, and single-point service connections to specialized equipment systems. Additionally, the facility is being constructed in a manner to adapt to future electrification for the public transit system.
Design and construction has commenced this spring, and substantial completion is anticipated for the end of 2017. This project will endorse ENGIE as a key player in the industry for future P3 pursuits.
